The goal of Sports massage is maximise athlete performance or physical activities.
Sports massage falls into three categories;
Pre-event: usually performed at an event, the helps increase athletic performance and helps prevent injury. It can also be done the night before to ensure a good nights sleep.
Post-event: performed directly after a sporting event (and no more than 24 hours after), the massage aids recovery by promoting blood flow to increases oxygen and nutrients to the muscles It will also loosen tired and stiff muscles to keep flexibility.
Maintenance: Depending on the status of the athlete, maintenance massage can be performed daily, weekly, or monthly. The massage will help reduce the development of scar tissue and help maintain/increase flexibility and range of motion.
What to expect?
Upon arrival at you initial appointment we will have an in-depth consultation about your needs and what you would like to achieve from your sports massage. An assessment maybe carried out including looking at your range of motion, posture and movement.
You’ll be given time to undress privately and informed how you will need to get onto the massage couch, you will cover yourself with the towels provided.
The massage will be a targeted massage to meet your needs and techniques will vary depending on those needs.
After your treatment you will be left to get relax and get dressed.
