Depending on which stage of pregnancy you are in will depend on your goal for the massage. It can be used for general relaxation, releasing tension and aches, improving sleep or just for a sense of wellbeing and time out.
Is it safe?
Massage is safe during pregnancy, and at Rebel Rebel, our therapist is fully trained in antenatal massage, and techniques are adapted depending on which trimester you are in.
We do not offer massage to anyone in their first trimester this is due to the miscarriage risk associated with the first trimester in general, and at any stage, if you have complications.
We will always put the safety of you and your unborn baby first so please ensure you disclose relevant information and any concerns you may have.
What to expect?
We’ll begin with an in depth consultation. This is so that we can tailor your massage to your needs, and discuss a number of positions that the massage can be carried out in ensuring that we get you as comfortable as possible.
There will also be relaxing music during massage, this is to help you to unwind.
I’ll give you time to undress privately and lie down on the massage couch, where you’ll cover yourself with the towels provided. Be reassured that you won’t be completely exposed at any point; your therapist will only uncover a small area of you at a time depending on the area they are focusing on, then recovering the area before uncovering the next.
After your massage treatment, you’ll probably feel quite relaxed and maybe even sleepy, you will be given time to relax while savouring the feeling.
